EF-6FG Review
| Well what can I say, the guys at cdt sent me a pair of EF-6fg mid-bass drivers to test out . Once they got here I opened the box and wow these babies look sweet. They use the same exact frame and motor as the EF-6 and EF-6cf but they share the better soft parts as the EF-6cf has. The difference is the cone and surround used on these mids. The cones are made of a woven fiberglass which is light yet very rigid. The surround is attached differently from the other drivers so it takes up less cone area. |

I matched them to a pair of 560 xovers and a set of drt26a aluminum dome cdt Tweeters. For power all I had was a us amps ax1000 which is rated at 350x2rms + so I was extra careful. Mid-bass output was solid with good response down to 70hz infinite baffle in a well deadened door. At first listen there seem to be a slight gap between the mid-bass and subwoofers but all it took was a little adjusting and the problem was solved. I have the car setup for my 07 3 ways so of course a different setting would be needed.
Midrange vocals are just so sweet when played through these mids. I prefer the sound of these over the EF-6cf (carbon fiber) version. The EF-6fg has a smoother sound to it and when run with the drt26a its just an awesome combo and at a very nice asking price. If you are a techno, electronica, or even a rap lover these are for you! Listening to Lucas Prata?s - never be alone or Paris avenue - i want you, is just awesome on this set. The instruments are produced with warm precision with a sound you can feel and the drt26a just brings the top end to perfection. I am very impressed with these drivers and cdt deserves the kudos. They made an excellent addition to there euro frame line and did it at a cost effective point.
