Why you should Not mount the main component set Tweeter away from the mid-woofer. The reason is the sound varies more at different listening positions and with changes in the program at any one location because the frequency of crossover to the main Tweeter is low enough to produce audibly different responses in different directions.
Although these are randomized by the car interior the ear can discern some loss of spatial consistency. In the highest frequencies above 8kHz (upstage) - the addition to the lower system is sufficiently random (given that the left driver is off axis to the left listener and the same on the right) and the ear sufficiently non-critical to simply enhance image size with no loss of integrity.
  • So the reason is to obtain image integrity or image "realism".
  • The cause is a disparate total response when combining with the main driver.
  • Disparity due to differences in source location (audible as described above) referred to the ear.
  • Disparity due to differences in the acoustic load (the mounting position should be the same so the car interior location will "color" the speaker sounds in the same way) on the drivers.
  • Placement of the main Tweeter near the woofer gives better consistency from one installation to the other.
  • Disparity due to differences in the acoustic load (the mounting position should be the same so the car interior location will "color" the speaker sounds in the same way) on the drivers.
  • Placement of the main Tweeter near the woofer gives better consistency from one installation to the other.
  • Utilization of a single mounting position for full range response.
  • The polar response in the crossover region is optimized by the CDT Audio Braxial construction. The closer the drivers the wider this response will be.
  • When the drivers are separated and placed at various distances from the listener some of the design precision is taken out of the system. Now the installer may need to adjust the Tweeter level to give the best blend. It may be necessary if the mounting positions are restricted to use the rear speaker sound to correct the front or visa versa.
  • Installed design precision is the overall advantage of CDT Audio Braxial based systems.
